I suspect I know the answer to this. 

But does a tw190 track any quicker than a 150? I suspect not. 

 

I have a 150 with a winch and it does everything I need but by god does it track slow. Living where I do and some of the work I get it can be a bit of a trek in. At slower than walking speed this 150 can sure make a meal out of it. 

 

Hoping to move on to a 230 or a st6. Used a 230 and forst, obviously a massive leap forward in terms of chipping capabilities as well as tracking speed.

I was watching my mates 280 track on site the other day , I think it was doing 20mph!!  … I think our Schliesing is about 1mph if that … can’t say I’m bothered by it much , the speed would be nice but I’m pretty sure I would drop tracks more, the slow speed seems to make you more aware of stumps and obstacles that could de track.

Yes that is definitely a pro for being slow at tracking but trying to cover any distance is darn annoying. Very easy to find yourself in a spot of bother when tracking about.

I did use a tr6p last year, felt very top heavy, tracked well and chipped amazingly well. The timberpup 150tr I have seems fairly well low in comparison and at least gives the illusion of a lower centre of gravity.

It's normally in the track motor, the feed only goes to half the pistons in high speed, so doubling the rpm and halving the torque.

 

The trouble with increasing the pump capacity is that everything downstream has to be capable of taking the extra flow, pipes, spools  and motors, else the oil gets too hot. and of course the motor and spools have to be rated for the increased flow.  I had this problem to deal with on a machine my predecessor had had built and he had just added an oil cooler which didn't solve anything really.

 

I found the spool valves for tracking the Forst too coarse and sudden compared with the Jensen and Greenmech tracked machines but we had the first two tr6s I think.
