A lot of tree companies love their toys, but it is all about budget and common sense. Big overheads are a killer to small companies.

Don't totally agree there,some chippers are very poor,and the difference between the good ones and the bad is huge IMO.

I hire chippers as I don't want the investment at the moment, I hire a petrol 5" timberwolf most of the time, its simple does what it says on the tin and is reliable.

 

What bugs me and this happend only last week is when people unfairly slag chippers off we have a 10" jensen at work tracked and a 6" Tinnywolf Tracked some noggin was banging on that the wolf easn't as good as the jensen!:cussing: Its never likely to be when its half the flippin size!

ive just set up on my own and went with the entec 25hp petrol. im very happy with it, it light, robust and reliable imo. look to pay around 4000 for one in good condition.

i demoed one and was very impressed it was a very well thought out chipper for the money but wasnt what we wanted so we had to spend more and more

the petrol timberwolfs seem to have good reviews.

im not a great fan of timber wold. but they are very reliable machines.

Have a fire instead ! This was a mega one me and Gavin had a few years ago ! Tens o tons all gone in minutes !

My new toy....Bugger is it heavy, but BOY does it eat the brash!! Its a BC1000 Vermeer, with a 3.5ltr. Turbo charged engine!
