merrist wood college offer the 10week course, could be a bit a long trek for you tho? i know you can stay on campus but add on £1400 for accommidation fees on top of tuition fees um a little bit pricey. i have done this course and it is wicked. Also try capel manor college, they also offer intence courses. hope this helps mat and all the best

Got to agree with woodpicker. Merrist Wood 10 week course is v good if you are already experienced. If your new to it I'd try and get an apprentership with a good local firm. Then when you have 12-18 months work under your belt then think 10 week course.

With all due respect i would have to disagree.

I had minimal experience (a few days feeding a chipper) before embarking on a 10 week course and i coped fine, as did the 10 other people with no/little experience.

Buy a cheap campervan and do merrist wood! Then you can sell it at the end and save on accom.

I think the 10 week course is a very good foundation to begin learning from. You get your tickets, you get some science knowledge and its a great experience. Just bear in mind you are a "full qualified" novice when you leave so you still need to learn the job which will take many years. Personally i would rather employ an apprentice with tickets rather than without. But thats just my opinion.:001_smile:
