I was offered one of these today, £1500, it was looking like it hardly had any use, I didn't buy it, and later telling a colleague about it he said there are some "fakes"  about,I've seen "clones" but they were obvious copies, I cant say if it was or wasn't, is there any hints or things I should look out for?

If it was a genuine saw the badge would say 3120XP not 1320 . ( the front two numbers being reversed )  Pictures would have helped . Above is a pic of mine .

Thes a few old 353, 365, 372 xps and 395s around , there new but I don't buy the it's made in Brazil, after all the Chinese copy anything ..but I'd not know what to look for...I'm glad I kept my efco 199 as the doesn't seen any clones of it !

And very pretty it is to. Is it the later saw with a choke or the earlier  more powerful model it ha primer?

I just spotted my mistake Stubby, the badge was 3120xp, but it seemed somehow less solidly built than my old 2101, to be honest I just couldn't bring myself with the coin for something that didn't really win me over, most of my old saws felt "right " as soon as I held them in some cases, and usually confirmed as soon as I tried them in wood.
