I’m looking for a pickup mewp to use on a utility contract, and it looks as though it’s basically a toss up between an Isuzu Dmax or Toyota Hilux mewp (don’t mention defenders!)

Has anyone here had experience running either long term? I have a Hilux tipper that is amazing, but the Isuzu trucks are cheaper for the same boom/miles. I’m aware that some Isuzus have DPF issues? Any input much appreciated!

Isuzu DPF issues were on earlier 2.5l engines. My understanding is that the newer 1.9l engines don't suffer the same, with usual proviso that they get a decent run occasionally to clear the system. Was also told they will be using a new 2.5l engine 'soon' with similar emissions & fuel consumption to the current engine. Have recently purchased a 2024 Dmax crewcab, so far so good.

Don't get iszuzu farriers got one ... twin turbo model, forever having issues with the dpf and other sensors it's thrown out and the cost of parts were nuts even scrap yard parts ..running into thousands .

If you've got to get something get a Toyota...I would of suggested a land-rover but can't get parts easily for them now either ..

2.5l had the twin turbo & dpf problems. Current engines have single turbo + adblu,  no worse than any other diesel with similar tech.

Now that’s a bit of context you left out in the other thread.

To be honest I’d be looking at something around 2015/18 as I can’t afford a brand spanker, so I would probably fall into the age of issues? I know you can have the DPF removed and remapped, but could be an issue with MOT later down the line

If you can get the guts of the DPF removed and then replace the empty can then , at the moment , the MOT only requires a visual indication that it is present . However if who ever does it is a shit welder and it looks obvious it been tampered with the its likely to fail .  I think things are going to change in that respect soon though . The problem that I have incurred is if any other thing causes an engine management light to come on the DPF will not clean until the other thing has been dealt with .

Meaning ?🤣. Yes I have horses ,yes I've almost had a career in eventing or looking after the Queens horses..my assests are all paid for unlike most on the equine circuit. And yes I've known alot of equine women to know how they operate...like a flee to a deer..

and bloke buys them A horse that they can't ride ..🐎 gets blamed for it and gets sold on yet it's an incompetent rider .champagne eyes and coca cola performance .
