I quite like the look of the snooker table hedge top, the sides look a bit dodgy but thats allowable. Maybe get some fertilizer/horse manure to the roots.

The ash dosetn look like its in particular bad health from those photos tbh. You always get bits of deadwood from ash.

You're right of course!

I can't do anything towards it physically apart from pick up anything that drops off the trees. The trunks/stems that lean my way will probably need to be dismantled to prevent damage to my garage and fence. Those leaning toward the neighbour's field are less of a problem. I'm nearly 77 and buy firewood kiln dried these days but there could be a good supply of firewood there, and Ash splits nicely.

There are Ash near me that looked like that a few years back . Some have almost completely recovered and some are dead as a Dodo . You never know but that one looks fairly good to me .

Hard to say from the photo, but you say its dropping 4" branches.

The small group that look directly over garage, dont look like they would do any damage, but photos can be decieving.

It might be worth going onto the Land Registry website where you can download a copy of the title plan for £7. 🙂

Thanks. This caused me to look back at the records from when we bought the house. There's a copy of the Land Registry document which clearly shows that the ditch, and therefore the tree, is outside our boundary.

I'll still be treading gently but nothing is likely to happen this week.

Over all ,that isn't In bad health it looks like a hedgerow tree that's reached maturity ...if you were to get it reduced then it will come back twice as strong.

Also Is it really worth getting stressed over?

OK. I guess I'm a bit 'glass half empty' type by nature, but the various replies from those in the know have given me some clarification and reassurance that the tree isn't in imminent danger of falling. Prevention is better than cure so the question was worth asking. 🙂

These days it'll be on a computer screen, the charge is for hard copy.

Granted, you try speaking in person to someone in the planning department without taking up whistling in the wind, they rarely answer the phone

You have the right to see the Order. Council has the right to charge for a copy of it.

Most Councils have made it nearly impossble to get to speak to someone. I worked for a Council years ago and you couldn't get any work done for people phoning up and keeping you on the phone for half an hour as they moan about everything they perceive to be wrong about western civilisation. In those days you were obliged to humour them. It was policy to answer the phone within 3 rings, even if it wasn't your phone. I hated it. So I agree with not being able to call someone. But what I now hate is that you have to email customer services and wait for an unknown period (days, weeks, never) for an answer. Meantime the tree is down and through the chipper and composted.
