Re #1, with the different markings and excess carbon - injector spray pattern is possible; somewhere in a old old memory stick I have boroscope slides for stuff like this - will see if I can find. Best in tank cleaner available from Opie Oils - right nr you in Redruth; I have an account if you want some stuff from them...

Some amount of cleaning is diy-able on the injectors assuming you removed them from the head? Altho, I've only ever done IDI ones.

 

What was the final diagnosis on the gasket?

 

V pleased to hear that the lift pump was as culpable as initially thought and great that you now have a sweet running motor.

Nice one mate, ill be off down opie in the morning. The injectors are so easy to take out that i will get them down to cornwall engine company for cleaning next week probably.
