Does anyone run another business? Or not do tree work full time?

Yup, got to have a niche that other people aren't doing or aren't doing well. The old adage that if you turn a hobby you enjoy in to a job, it will never feel like work is very true.

From my years fixing and tuning saws, I had very little local or countrywide competition that impacted on my business and the above was very true.

I used to deliver stuff as a younger working man, new cars for a while (till I smashed too many up) and other stuff, I enjoyed it, albeit having the disquieting feeling that for a man in his 20s it wasn’t meaningful work or going anywhere career wise.

But just seeing the countryside, listening to the radio suited my lazy yet easily bored nature just fine

Few years of that before I quit the working life might be an idea.

Until you suffer burnout like I did with my first hobby/job of cooking. Probably works out different if you keep it to 3 or 4 days a week instead of 6 or 7 though.
