550 mk 2 woes

Any one else had this problem with mk 2 crank cases breaking around the back ?
one of the saws was months old when it broke the other was just over 6 months and retired as the auto tune could not handle the change and ran like a bag of nails.
I put them both too the back of the shed as I didn’t have time to address , now I’m on first thinning I need some 50cc saws that work!

I have a 545 crankcase that should fit if helpful

I think replacing the crank case is totally last resort mate.. I was just wondering if husky Know there is a fault or weak spot in the mk 2 .

not one not of the first gen 550’s I’ve ever seen have broken here so the must have redesigned them to make them lighter @adw ?
I know of one other person this has happened too on the mk2.

I have seen some like that, the material in this area is very thin however, this should be a low stress area so hard to understand why they have fractured in this area, the av mount is still intact so other than it does not look too pretty, it is still useable.

I found on the first saw it really upset the auto tune … yesterday, Monday I taped the hole with roof repair tape and it seemed to settle it , ran really well tbh considering I hadn’t started either saw for 6 months!
Going to try Liquid Metal on the newer one.
