In the video opening shot, note the carabiner and the wear on the top corner. Appears it is binding on the black peice and preventing it releasing. That is not normal wear for a biner.

It doesnt look like a huge carabiner, just a bad design on that part. Can the black piece be adjusted up as it appears to be the bottom of its travel.

I'd suggest trying it with a skinny steel mallion rapid quicklink.

Anything in instructions about compatable carabiners?

Wow good spot, that is a lot

of wear if it's from the Vertec?!

A chap on YouTube overcame the problem of the carabiner hooking up by using a DMM swivel or something similar I think...

I am still confused why they took the pulley off, not sure how that affects the bird?

A mate used to have a spiderjack which has no pulley, one thing about it he always didn't like.

I spoke to honeys regarding the tending issue before crimbo. They said notch were looking into it.

They advised using a narrow profile karabiner. I took mine out for its first run today, with a dmm oval it was a no go, jammed straight away like in the videos doing the rounds.

switched to a hms mini super safe an it worked fine, bird was much friendlier on the hands and the lack of pulley wansnt noticed as much as i thought it might be on ascent, tending slack or when pulling slack through to install redirects.

Curious to see how it goes in the wet, always found the pro sucked.

Been ill over christmas so haven't had much time to get out. Had more time with the DMM Director. Cathes ever so slightly but no locking up. No wear like as been seen on some crabs. I've now got a Rocko and that works fine.

Has anyone any further reviews on the binding issue?

I'm in the market for a 2nd mechanical of which easy midline attaching is required..

This looks almost good, but seems like it's majorly flawed.. like the akimbo, very good features but only works in certain parameters of humidity which also vary depending on the phase of the moon..

Eagerly awaiting the akimbo 2.0 release and subsequent reviews hoping they are good otherwise the BDB wins..
