Restoring and painting old corrugated "iron" / metal roofing sheets (galvanised)

I think the problem is there is already rust creeping where previous holes are, as well as around edges.  And I wondered if it would get worse exponentially once it takes hold.

Galvanising is a sacrificial thin coat of zinc stuck on the iron and it corrodes preferentially, so it gradually gets thinner but because of the electrolytic effect it protects the iron from rusting, once the zinc corrodes away the remaining iron starts rusting. Once it gets to that stage paint is a protection for the sheet.

Thank you, I'll take a look at those options.

Do you think they are all better options than bituminous, and if so do you mind if I ask why?

I don't know that they are better overall but they are easier to apply, more choice of colours if that matters to you and they stick really well. Very durable too.

Odd thing to shoe horn in there.

Eh, pretty self explanatory to me and I would hope most others, but let me explain.

If in his/her/their teens (ie young) a coat of bitumen may not keep the roof weather proof and sound till he/she/they are done needing it, where as if he/she/they are out of his/her/their teens (ie old) it would see him/her/them out.

I suspect you are the reason peanut packets have the warning “may contain nuts” 😀
