I got 2 chains for my 346xp for £27 from a guy off the internet, no angle guide marks, they slacken off far too quickly and the steel is very soft when filing them. After these two have gone I will be sticking to Oregon chains.

Whats the difference between stihl chain and oregon chain, is there a difference in the angle 10degrees up maybe?

It's worth mentioning that the Chinese will fake absolutely anything with no regard to your safety, and the fakes look very, very convincing.

 

So that cheap eBay Stihl chain might not be what it seems.

I'm not implying that these are immitation chains or anything like that, but if they are, what would happen if there was an accident caued by chain failure - I take it if you use chinese chain or sub standard chain, imitation or otherwise they would have no EN conformity or CE regulation, and could lead to invalid insurance in the event of an accident and could not be proven by an EN number, BS, Ansi etc???

They are cheep and are unlikely to be fakes by the looks of everything else they are selling.

 

I will point out though that on a quick inspection they are still not as cheep as me.
