  1. Hi, I'm Ash and have been climbing for 10 years and have the following tickets CS30, 31, 32, 38, 39, 40, 41, 45, 47, 48, chipper and stumpgrinder. I currently live in Suffolk and have next week free to work. I come with my own PPE, climbing kit and saws. Im happy to travel within reason. If you've got some work you can throw my way then please give me a call 07515 029101 or message me on here Cheers
  2. Your right there! But you cant tell the customer what they want and most of the time they dont care what the tree wants!
  3. I was once side pruning a big Oak and whilst chogging down the bigger limbs asked a guy to move the insulated rods, did a step cut and threw a big piece of Oak straight into the rods and broke two of them, I suppose I should have looked first
  4. Cheers for the advice, thanks for the pics Ed, the tree to be cut is no where near as congested as that and forms a nice standard, it has been reduced before but she just wants it all off this time. I will see what she wants, I will try the replacement option though. Thank you both, Ash
  5. Hi all, I have got a job coming up soon which is for a lady who wants her Mahogany Bark Cherry, Prunus serrula, crown reducing. I have offered to do a full crown reduction but she wants something "more drastic than that". Will this sort of tree take to a real good hacking, that sounds terrible, she wants me to try and start some pollard heads much like the London Planes in London. I want to do the job the way she wants to keep her happy but at the same time do not want this tree to die after I have cut it. The tree does have plenty of epicormic growth within the crown so I am sure it would survive and put on plenty of leaf next year, however your views and past experiences would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks, Ash.

    Cheap chains!

I got 2 chains for my 346xp for £27 from a guy off the internet, no angle guide marks, they slacken off far too quickly and the steel is very soft when filing them. After these two have gone I will be sticking to Oregon chains.
  7. I was working at Morrisons (supermarket) and that is enough to send anyone over the edge and retrain to do something worthwhile, 4 years on and I have now done an NC Arb and I love my job.
  8. If anything does happen with Fountains Abbey then give me a tinkle cos I only live 15 mins away and wouldn't mind getting to know a few people round this way in the industry
  9. Why are we still allowing americans to have and work with chainsaws???? They are clearly not competent!! You also have to ask the question: Who would employ any of these so called professionals to do any tree works around their property? MPB you are def right about the gene pool idea.
  10. I am eployed by a national utility arb company and we are currently trying to find a climber to join a team working from Leicester covering the East Midlands. CS units 30, 31, 32, 38, 39, 40, 41 and UA1 required. Please get in touch for further details. Ash.
