Type of buckthorn ?

Recommended Posts

Hello, what is this tree ?!?!?

Again my book is letting me down, the new stems seem to sprout off in the multiple directions from the same point and repeat this, i think this is called a whorl ? The leaves are serated pinnette finally toothed and come to a very sharp point. They are also opposite, its the whorl growth that is confusing me. The trunk is thin smooth but has large holes as seen in pictures, I think this is called corking. The twigs have black solid buds on them. They seems to be hairs in yhe main veins also on the underside of the leaf

any ideas people … some advice on what kind of pictures to take wouldbe really helpfull

Yep, Ash with Dieback.

Not sure of the OPs intentions regarding the tree but I'd suggest it's best removed soonish. It probably won't survive the DB and even if it does, it's not in a good position given the proximity to the shed, judging by the photos. Ash is a fast growing tree.

Sorry to be the bad news messenger!
