A proper bandsaw mill will be far better than a vertical one if you can find someone locally.

To be honest Les it might be just as easy to chainsaw mill it on site if it’s a one off cut 🤷‍♂️

Good Morning,

I wondered if anyone knew of a sawmill in the South West (Somerset area) that had a vertical band Resaw?

many thanks,

Adam

What’s dimensions of the beam and maybe put up a pic or two. if it’s just one length have you considered chainsaw milling it on site.

Evening, thanks for the info. Have spoken to Valley and they can’t help unfortunately. I am not looking to waste anyone’s time. I just want to get a 7.4m length of Opepe resawn. I get it’s a hassle for a lot of people and no problem. Hoping someone out there might be able to help. I think a vertical bandsaw might be better as the timber could move as it’s pared down the middle. The timber was order for the renovation of a bridge but never put in. I need to get two sections of equal size at its full length. I understand that in an ideal world you wouldn’t cut the timber in this way but unfortunately it’s tricky to find this timber at this size and in this manner. If it bananas I believe I can still make it work as I am tensioning the lengths together using steel bars. So hoping I can straighten it out. Probably too much to explain here but if you think there is a mill I might just chat to appreciated. I don’t fancy my back up plan but sometimes needs must.

I can mill 5.7m on my Bandsaw but I if Im re-sawing already squared off beams then its easy to slide the beam down the bunks and finish the cut. 7.4m would not be an issue. I did this recently for a customer as he needed 20 beams like this done.

You're way to far away for me to do something like this but Id be wanting £300 if you where closer.
