Im after some advice looking to get a decent splitter budget would be upto £1000

all advice will be appreciated :confused1:

I bought one 2 years ago, split a few hundred ton with it. It is self propelled with a 6.5hp briggs & stratton. Still as good as new. cost £850. Go to log splitter on ebay, look for the seller "nobby" , he is based in cardigan w. wales. Its worth the trip just for the stunning scenery. I took a really hard knotty piece of eucalyptos and it split it with the 4 way wedge with ease.

I also got one off ebay, although 2nd hand. Couple of minor niggles that were my fault for not checking machine over properly but thats life!

Its running a 400cc honda engine and a massive ram, its huge diamater. first photo shows what was like when i bought from ebay

and shiny new painted one is how it is now, not best photo. will post a better one next time its out (forgot yesterday)

basically if you can lift the stick onto machine, it will split it.

edit to add, i got a peice of angle iron welded onto either side of the blade to split the logs wider sooner, just not shown on those photos.
