New vs old ms362

Hi I’ve got a MS362 2013 model in very good condition but needs a new piston and barrel, can anyone advise on whether it’s worth replacing the saw or fixing the saw due to new model?

I had a blown up saw rebuilt once, blew up again a month later.

 

Depending on your budget and how much you use the saw, I’d buy a new one.

That’s my worry, this saw still works I think it’s just the piston is scored so lacks power when cutting big logs. I just wanted to know if the new saws being m-tronic are as good?

I have a ported m-tronic 362 and it's been fine

Don’t worry about the m-tronic stuff, it works great

The Mtronic version seems to run stronger than the carb model. Your repair very much depends on if the cylinder can be reworked and the route cause found and if you can find someone to do it economically or not.

That’s good to here, I may just buy a new saw by the sounds of it so I know where I am and saves money in the long run and tax😊

How much more is an MS400? That's what I'd buy.

 

You might save the 362 with just a piston, then it becomes more viable but like Mick says your risk is whatever caused the piston to score in the first place.
