Yes, on older machines are usually 540 rpm on the PTO.

 

Newer ones are usually 540 & 1000, it cuts down on the fuel usage, but you get more torque on 540.

 

The 540 chipper will have a gearbox of some kind, whereas a 1000 will be direct.

Let me double check with the guy, I could have sworn he ssid about 25hp off the PTO when I was chatting to him, so I guess he's mistaken about something...

 

What are your specs, what have you got on yours?

Erm closer to 60hp it's a 1970 tractor.

 

Always run tractor equipment at around 50%, gives plenty of reserves when it gets bogged down.

 

Plus you'd realistically never chip over 130mm unless you want biomass chip.

That MF 178 will run both of them, but will struggle lifting the 220 as a heavy lump he will need full set of weights on front. I have run one on a fendt 304 with loader on and that's light on front end. But now use Valtra 6400. 

The GreenMec 220 is a beast of a chipper. 

Timberwolf 150 would suit that a treat, there was one on ebay the other week.

Nice one, the 220 is probably a bit much for him then.

I'll look into TW150, I expect they crop up on 2nd hand sites often enough.

Any machine with that stupid numbering screams Chinese tat at that price for something that's new.

It does seem a bit too wallet-friendly all right!

Cut and paste the number into Alibaba or similar and they'll be pages of them, bit like Winton and a few other similar companies.

 

Usual we have designed or improved etc, no mate you have imported a container load of cheap stuff to flog and will probably be their downfall as even their log splitters are looking very Chinese nowadays.
