Hi everyone,

 

I'm after a bit of advice. 

 

I have a Posch autosplit which converts log rings into lovely regular firewood. I'm looking for a way to transport rings from a very big heap to the machine (could be up to 100yds).

 

We currently fill potato bins with rings and transport them that way, but it is a bit hard on the arms.

 

I was thinking about a big bucket on a tractor foreloader or Avant.

 

Does anyone know what happens when you drive a big bucket into a pile of rings? Is it effective with the right bucket or is it a non-starter?

Buckets work, but it’s not pretty.

You need to take a lot of earth to avoid ‘plugging’ 

All in all, unsatisfactory.

What about a grab type thing, like those machines where you put a Euro in and get nothing in return..🤔

Aye, you'd be better with a claw attachment. Buckets are fine, but as Mick said you'll end up picking up loads of earth/mud, which will trash your chains

Thanks guys, I should clarify there's concrete under the piles of rings.

Then a bucket will work fine.

Maybe get a trial on an avant if you're thinking about buying one.....try different attachments

Bucket shouldn't be a problem on concrete but you could also look at a riddle bucket so and mud and stones fall out. It would mean less sawdust as well.
