I dont own a G!! a few of these lads do though.

A telephoto lens isnt really a macro lense.

and i think your talking about a screw on close up lens as aposed to a full and specific macro lens which is by definition a 1:1 magnification minimum. Mine was 100mm F2.8 usm from the canon stable, widely considered by the trade as one of the finest optics around, legendary

Tracing paper or one skin of white toilet tisue over the flash will difuse the onboard flash ,try it!

yes thats a good tip, another one is hairspray! spray hairspray into the air and swipe your lens through the spray for a really good subtle soft focus effect that will enhance your portraits to a pro level!

your girlfriends will like that one, a wedding photographers trick:thumbup1:

Yeah, that was taken in the auto setting. If an object is near it automaticly goes into macro. Thera are so many settings on the thing I dont know where to start. I know nothing about phototography, glad I didn't get the DSLR!!

Instead of going full auto try going for pic modes if you have them or better still Av and Tv aperture value so you can control depth of field (focus distance front to back of image) or Time value to avoid camera shake about 60th of a second for a young steady hand or 125th for a bloke whos a bit wobbly! this will give you more control over the image rather than allowing the camwera to guess what you want from it.

The blue hue is sometimes down to it being set to tungsten lighting, but more often this generates a deeper blue, so it is most likely that it is set for a bright day and you shot on a cloudy one. or vice versa.

To gain good colour saturation I in most cases under expose by 1/3rd of a stop, this enhances colour tones and reduces highlights a little, its a tip i got from publishers as they require good colour saturation.
