Woodworking advice needed for fixing wheels

Shaved and shaped wooden beam as axle, turned or sanded, round wheel areas ( "journals") then either wooden pins or large lynch pins ( available from farm stores, usually for securing jcb fork attachment bars) to retain wheels in place and allow rotation.

Sorry Steve, only looked at first picture and didn't spot the second one of your iron wheels. A wooden beam axle would look really shit with those.

Presumably it's style over actual function and not to be wheeled around the village selling your wears ?.

 

Maybe just add a couple of legs behind the wheel and hide them behind the spokes.
