So the college requires you to use class c "all round" protection when it's not deemed necessary, but doesn't care if the rated chain speed matches the saw used?

 

Has there been a risk assessment carried out on operators overheating in chainsaw trousers?

 

You said the course is countryside management, how often do you use a chainsaw on it?

I refuse to wear type c trousers. You can’t move in the bloody things and my opinion they compromise work positioning which in turn makes me less safe in the tree. We have had our risk assessments go through some fairly harsh assessments for some of the commercial work we used to do.

Tell them bollocks until they can prove why. You will lose the argument for climbing at college, I come under the category of should know better and no one above me to sue so it’s my own look out!
