firstly hello to everyone, newbie here. if anyone can give me any info on the above? ive been looking for one for a while and one has come up on ebay but im worried about sourcing parts, it seems they are mostly in america ? does anyone have any parts available ? i know its a rare beast but dont want to have a go at it if im going to struggle sourcing bits for it, any info would me most helpful

Cant help you with how available new parts in the uk are but i did once purchase a 166 at a farm auction by accident, auctioneer was struggling to get a bid 50,20,10 so i shouted out 2 quid to get you going, before i'd finished speaking he'd put the hammer down. Took it home, cleaned it up and realised it was a 166 with scored piston and cylinder so parted it out on ebay and every bit of it went to America. So i reckon used parts in this country will be as rare as hens teeth.

I understand you wanting to get something running but if you need a saw get soething that is not rare as rocking horse poo ....

do you recall what you sold it for chris ? the one in question is upto £800

They are lovely saws and pull long bars like a freight train 

there isn’t a lot wrong with this saw only a bit of

carb work probably 

I know one person who’s bidding on anything interesting 

in the big Dolmar saws he also collects Ford escorts 

so he probably won’t stop much below 2K

 

the other option is a Dolmar CT or a 153 both lovely saws 

but nice too hear from anyone who likes collecting
