This morning I was footing a ladder for a mate who was replacing a down pipe, the tw@t yanked at the main pipe and the ‘swan neck’ bit pictured came down at what seemed like breakneck speed, towards my head, I’ve had better starts to a day.

That could've been a real sore one.

Been lucky a few times lately too.

Had my helmet knocked off by an unintentional crane movement when chaining up, got dragged to the base of a tree (but not up it thankfully) by a rigging rope when the portawrap slipped, then nearly got hit from behind by a tanker speeding through our works at roadside.

Some days the gods are on our side.

Looks like cast iron too?

It is cast, and it didn’t half hurt, do you know that sickly feeling?
