Hi

I am new to the forum and just setting up my Landscape gardening business

(Grounded Home Page). I specialise in the hard landscaping and have had no experience with chainsaws, but I am doing my cs30-31 courses in March at Shuttleworth as I need a saw for the occasional small trees, branches and for garden clearance jobs etc.

My question is, "What chainsaw do I need for the courses?" I have a ms341 that I bought a few years ago second-hand but have never used. Will this be too big for a beginner to learn on? Should I buy a cheap ms180 for training and work my way up to my other saw?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

if your doing cs 30 and 31 you can only use a maximum 15 inch bar. With this you ll have a cracking saw. Don t piss about with a 180 if you already have a decent saw.

Most courses provide with kit any way so find out first before you decide.

Don't forget you will need PPE for 30/31; Helmet with visor and ear defenders gloves with protection on the back of left hand, chainsaw boots and type C chainsaw trousers. Worth taking some normal work gloves for the workshop part of 30 to save your chainsaw gloves. :001_cool:
