got them FOC of a chap whose hedges i do

looks like i'll be doing them for free next time (lol) but don't mind

the firm he works for import veg and these came from Egypt, i think

i've put my name to 50 of em. lol

greedy? me? never

The all important free factor, nothing beats it, get your name on the lot:thumbup:

They look a bit like spud crates, should be good for seasoning, handier than the vented bags even as you could tack a sheet of something on the top.

congrats on your enterprising fortune.

yeah buddy, thought about that too, but the cost of the macinery needed is mind blowing.

i don't borrow money, everthing i've got is paid for ( apart from the house)

i look at it this way, if i drop out of a tree n break something, i'm buggered.

if i've got finance, loans, credit cards, etc i'm PROPER buggered..

i'll be looking at a skid steer for about 3/4K in the summer

thought about a tractor, but the price of even and old banger is rediculous.

some of the guys on here collect toys like i collect saws

( you know who you are ) lol

there must be plenty of money trees out there, but i'm yet to find one.....pmsl

thanks BRD, i've got two big lorry sheets to go over the top.

the only problem is they're bright RED......:blushing:

but the good thing about them is they've got lots of tiedowns

hopefully, they should keep the worst of the rain off.

i did think about covering them with clear plastic, the idea being to create a kind of polytunnel. :confused1:

but discounted the idea as i didn't think the plastic would stand up to the weather..

My dad had them kicking around for ages, and when i decided to sell logs they were perfect. Ours are old onion boxes, some had new zealend stickers on them so were well travelled!

I started logs at the age of 16, i cut my own trees down, split and seasoned them then sold them in these crates. Then forklifted them into the back of my dads van and he would drive me around to customers for me to unload them, id give him £10 for every one i sold.

He has a renault master van with custom body, you can fit 3 of these crates full of logs in the back, so i used to to fill it up and then deliver 3 deliveries at a time. One year on when i turned 17 i was able to buy, modify and insure my landrover. Logs sold like hot cakes!

Im now 19, looking for my own van to carry on doing this. There you go guys, my life story :blushing::thumbup:

you might be better off with a trailer Tom

ok, you've got your trailer test to pass, but i think it would be more practical.

plus you get to keep your landy

Landrovers already been sold mate, im getting a van as i also do motocross so it will help me out with getting my bike to tracks.

I only do logs on the side, I work 2 days a week and go to college for 3 days. Busy busy busy! lol

Not a bad way of looking at things, if you can manage it. Sometimes, if starting up, it may be necessary to borrow but I'm of the same opinion as you. I run old gear now, but everything is bought and payed for - the reduction in stress is priceless.
