yeah something like that....

Been pulled twice for being overweight so have to play by the rules these days. .

If i'm not being to nosey, what happened when you got pulled, It's a constant worry of mine to the point where i'm thinking of a mog / 7.5 tonner.

first time i was 300kg over if i recall.....got a talking to and a letter in the post, but was also told that iw ouldnt be getting no second chance, next time i got pulled i'd go to court no questions.

couple weeks later they got me again, i had been very cautions, was carrying a level load of beech logs....my sides are 50cm so slightly deeper than standard sides. i was 4% over on the front axles and they allow 5% so got lucky. but it just goes to show how crap the payloads are on 3.5 ton trucks. mine are ally sides also so not the heaviest of bucks by any means. I'd be surprised if you can carry much more than 1ton on most arb trucks, probably less on the ones with tool boxes.

If you do get pulled and they ask if the cargo is wet say no. you are allowed something like 10% for it getting wet ie pissing it down and adding to the weight.

I'd be suprised if most, if not all tree lads are running around way overweight on the vans. Our LDV (soon to be replaced) is 2.6 ton unladen and can carry about 2 ton of chip and 2.5-3 ton of log. Way overweight espec when pulling a chipper but hey what ya gonna do. Cba with a 7.5ton and all the operatores license etc.
