I made my ball stopper with long cord so i can tie it to the rope with itself using a prussik. and all in it cost me £1.50.

 

I used that for a while, but the on one occasion, the prussic got caught on a branch on the way up and slid off the end of the climbing rope. Mind you, that could possibly be rectified with more wraps on the prussic.

True with 4 wraps it has come off, but never came of or got caught with 6.

the only time ive ever had a friction saver stuck is when the large ring gets stuck in a v shaped fork after pulling it out. cant see how this bit of kit would eliminate the risk of that. ill stick with me overhand knot and spend the three quid or whatever on a bumper bag of monster munch or a pint or something.

i think its a good idea and id use one, how much are they going to cost??

for £2.50 i can by an aluminium crimp that is designed for crimping the ends of wire rope - it does exactly the same thing to be honest .

i have a few different savers which need a different size

ie art one

but they will sell

I have the toggle one on a bit of cord (not sure of its mane!) and its done me fine.

 

Guess theres always room for different types of kit, but i recon your mate wont make a million out of it, but could sell a few.

I use the ali bullet type on a plain rope or clip a carbine hook onto a spliced eye.

 

I don't really like the retrival ball type stoppers, find they get get stuck more than the old bullets.

 

Your plastic one will work fine.

 

....but I bet you could just cut the neck off a suitable sized empty plastic bottle and use to the same effect.
