I joined this forum last year, as I had just started my own firewood business. Over the last 12 months I have logged in most days and checked the many threads to learn from the experts.

This web site has given me invaluable advice - from buying a moisture to meter to finding out what Ash looks like !.

I started selling firewood in 2008 due to unemployment; my previous profession had been hit hard by the recession.

I had absolutely no idea about selling firewood, I bought a 2nd hand Jappa 700 from Sweden (I flew over to check it out although I had no idea what I was looking at) a tractor from eBay (again no idea what I should be looking for) and managed to find a great wood supplier.

After almost 2 years out of my original profession I managed to find a job, but I’m still keeping the log business going. When I started I was delivering in my Toyota Rav 4 with a very small trailer, I have bought a Toyota Dyna tipper which I love and have moved to a larger space to process the wood and have taken on part time help.

The point of this thread is say thank you to everyone who unbeknown to them via their posts have helped me set up a great business.
