Grants for planting?

Is there such a thing?.....A friend of mine owns five acres which he rents out to horse owners, he asked me where he could buy laurels at a good price in order to hedge the boundary. Dont bother with Laurels there awful I said and went on to tell him the benefits of Hawthorne instead, better for birds and near impossible for anyone to clamber through etc etc.

Then it dawned on me that if it were Hawthorne maybe theres a possibility of a grant from the EA or some other org so I said I'd ask for him on here.:001_smile:

tbh its unlikely if its for the boundary of a horse paddock, NE who administer most of the land based schemes are moving away from paying for boundary works, it might be worth contacting your local council parks teams as you may find they will sell you the quicks at a greatly reduced price, this is certainly the case in Cambs (free) and Staffs (very cheap), dont know about the rest of the UK though Mick, that would be my first call anyway
