got offered this timber today 2 piles approx 22 lengths in each pile rangeing100mm-400mm dia would like some idea as to what its worth to buy as cant weigh it, any help would be greatly appreciated.

why not have a quick measure quesstimate a cubic metreage and offer him so much per cube? - whats it worth to you !

 

hi thanks,whats the best way to work out m3 of a tree is it find the area then times by average dia ?like you would work out a cylinder size? or is there another calculation for trees?

Looks like an 8 wheeler load. £600 delivered . But you need to transport so knock off £200. You need to cut it up and some of it is large Knock another £100. How about £300 or less if you can.

How far is it from your base, if it is far then the price goes down, also take into account the hassle factor. All of these will effect the price you offer. Always start well below what you think it is worth and Haggle Haggle haggle.

Or can you keep the wood on site and process it there. That will save you all the transport costs. But get a signed agreement from the land owner. We lost about 6 tonnes of good Ash, becouse the farmer got a better offer, and we reduced the price for carring out the work in the first place in lieu of the firewood we could sell. We only had a verble agreement.
