dangerous fell

Timber fallers I worked with once sharpened saws like you wouldn't believe. For pop felling it was 100 +cc saw and the depth gauges taken right down.

i got a large poplar that needs felling. got alot of a lean on it. with a lot of wait. plenty of room to land it, no probs there. no space any where else. just a bit concerned about barber chairing. was just guna bore cut it then severe the holding strap. got any better ideas? to give you an idea, its 85/90ft high and about 3ft across.

 

You origional idea was correct.

 

If you do the correct dogs tooth felling cut there shouldnt be any need for straps etc.

 

If in doubt, dont rely on a ratchet strap, get someone who can fell it for you.

Spot on i was felling large Ash heavy lean today bored in as long as you have a good hinge and holding wood it just holds take out the holding wood and down she comes. I am working around a pond so not much room for running:lol:

Any tree with a significant lean on it deserves a dogs tooth, its a great way of setting the hinge perfectly without any panic, and most of all its a safe way of felling a leaner:001_rolleyes:

 

 

 

 

P.S, how come you were limited with your escape route, I bet the was plenty of swimming room?
