Unimogs and Red Diesel

Can Agri spec Unimogs be legally run on red diesel at the moment and will this change with the revisions to legislation coming along very soon.  Thinking about our next purchase - we are parting company with our 7.50 tonne Canter - need to decide what is best for us and a Unimog is in the mix.  But not sure of running costs when compared with new Izuzu 7.50 tonne - I know we won't have the same off road capabilities.  Anyone have any views on this?

Dont know about the new red rules but if its not for actual agri / forestry / fishery use then you would need O licence, tacho (unless within exempted zone) 6 to 12 weekly checks and a licence for the max weight. Old rules would have said no red as well for non agri forestry stuf too.

Thank you for your comments - this is one of those situations where you ask a question and yet already know the answer :) Clearly it was too early in the morning.  We already operate with O Licence, tacho's and 8 weekly checks so quite used to that, white diesel in a Unimog would be consistent with the remained of our trucks so I guess it's just a business decision around running costs of a Mog and the off road capability versus the same for more traditional unit such as Izuzu.
