Veterans- The ultimate survivors

A few from todays wondering around the mighty Frishden beeches, hama style:thumbup:

 

I find it amusing how "fragile" we are told the European beech is (Fagus sylvatica) It is in fact a born survivor, and these veterans bare witness to that, no matter what the rest of them say.:001_cool:

Tony,

When was this article published (the BBC page shows no date) ? I heard of this Dalarna pine before, but I also heard from within the European myco & tree circle, that this claim had to be withdrawn, because of a lack of (scientific) evidence.

 

I dont know gerrit, came across it today on the ancient tree forum, shall try to find out for you.:001_smile:

Well I'm coming on the 17th to whippendell, might see if I can free up the original date of that other thing that got cancelled, and come down, depends on cash flow for fuel really, will know more when I get back off me jollies in wales next week
