576xp wire loose

Any ideas? I’ve labelled the loose wire 1. Is it meant to be under a nut like the one numbered 2, that appears to be the ground cable on the parts diagram? The saw is functional so I’m assuming it can’t be *that* important?

I reckon it should be under the screw that is into the red plastic as part of the kill switch circuit.

Looks like an earth to me and should be with the other black wire. I am sure ADW will confirm if he can tear himself away from the Downton Abbey boxed set!!

Is this a heated handle model? Just had a look at my 576xp non heated version and the only wire visible is for the stop switch which is a female spade connector,  not a ring terminal. Mine is normal carb not auto tune which may differ?

Downtown just finished, yes this is the earth return wire and should sit under the head of the rear l/h side screw, somebody must have removed the screw at some time for it to be just hanging there.

Just ha d a better look at it, it may be the earth wired for the auto tune unit, anyway it does sit under the head of the screw.

Is the screw you mean the one by the clip for the casing, or the one which I’ve labelled 2?

Just wondering if this loose wire would affect the performance of the saw? Somehow it seems like a cleaner crisper saw now. Maybe it’s all in my head…
