career change, best advice

Hi, this is my first post but been having a good look at the forum for a couple weeks. Im 22 and im a qualified panel beater/vehicle technician, been doing it for 5 years but have also been doing landscaping/ maintience on and off since i was 17. After working doing landscaping all last year and now starting back at my old garage ive realised i really do prefer lanscaping but more importantly tree surgery.

 

im hoping to leave my job end of april and find a job helping out a tree surgeon and in the mean time do my chainsaw license. Ive used chainsaws before and know all the saftey but want to be fully qualified and also learn as much as possible so come september im hoping to do a course at Reaseheath.

 

My main question is while im still working at the garage what are the best books to read, things i should learn first etc just so im not going into it fully blind come april, shall i also learn the different types of knots etc.

I,m sure someone could hook you up with a bit of work . Although best route would be offering help for free just to get exp . You,ll also make some good contacts .

i was thinking that but as i'll be taking either a decent pay cut (to be expected) or as you say for free, ive got to wait until end of april so i can pay off all my bills first lol
