Thanks everyone Willow is what I need for my current project, so I took a saw up this afternoon but any potentially useful timber (main stem) was heavily rotted, no wonder it blew down last weekend

Yes prob Grey Willow/Sallow. Salix cinerea. There are 2 subspecies - cinerea/oleifolia . Also hybrids may look same as the species. Too much info prob👀

I think the rule with black pop is that it comes up in tree guides but almost always isn't, they are so rare now. Woodland Trust reckon there are around 7000 in the UK now.

But I agree, in the willow end of town this time.
