Eye splice whipping

Hello. The transparent plastic sheath that covered and protected the eye splice whipping has worked its way off and is now sliding up and down my rope. Anyone know a good way to get it back on or replace it with something else?

Cut it off and put some electrical tape around it.

Thought of that, though perhaps selatape would be better so you could still see the condition of the whipping.

 

Some eyes seem better constructed than others, this is just bog standard new england

Na the electrical tape is ok, or buy some more heat shrink tube and if only 1 end is spliced thread it on then heat it.

 

Sellotape wont last 2 mins!

just buy some more heatshrink, or not. i dont bother on my ropes personally

Leccy tape is o.k as long as the whipping is good when you put it on, its unlikly to worsen with its protection. Plus tape is easy to remove so you can inspect it often and very easy to replace/find.

Good points. Leccy tape will do the trick. Just out of interest, what source of heat do you use when using the heatshrink?

Only kiddin a hair dryer should do it.

We use a heat gun, the type you use for stripping paint, the heat shrink we sell has glue inside so once heated and shrunk it wont move.

Heat gun also. Hair dryers don't have enough heat imo. They are not expensive either
