Death of Cheques!

A few weeks ago, the banks decided that they will phase out cheques over the next few years. How will this affect our customers? Most of my work is domestic so, i am payed by cheque alot. Maybe what will happen is everyone will now pay me in cash...sounds good

dont worry too much there is always bank transfer........or good old cash

The best thing i ever did was put at the bottom of every invoice - we now accept paypal.

 

Add a little charge for this as well and you recive payments really quick from domestic clients as it enables them to pay by credit card etc....

I allow payment through bank transfer at the moment, but feel it sometime allows customers to delay paying for that little bit longer, but i do get payed in the end. like the paypal idea, only ever used paypal through ebay. Is it the same arrangement /system?

customers are always after cash discount, so give them it, even if its only 5%,its amazing how they can find the time to meet you if they can save a few quid, even a fiver, keeps cash flow going, i pay all my fuel through the week now in cash, i just keep a cash book in the van, at the end of the week i know whats mine, whats the banks and there is no more huge disapointment at the end of the month when you check the bank balance, keeps you in touch with your out goings too.

as long as terms are stated on invoice i always put foot note on to say payment within 28 days or will incurr interest at 2.5% above bank base rate agree with paypal but cant see customers paying surcharge on top unless agreed in advance

It thought they were planning to phase it out by 2018 IF a suitable replacement method can be found, Its possible they could delay it or even scrap the idea

I just add £5 paypal surcharge, domestic clients dont mind it as they will stick it on there credit card, no hassle etc.....

 

We have a load of T&Ts, different ones for both domestic and commercial as our comercisl ones scare the bugger out of general j bloggs...

 

As asked to set up paypal just go to there website and open a biz account, its free...
