Yes QR .Its right next to a road and has still got a nice crown on it good height and spread i will visit this one again in september this year and see what s going on with it .I was so happy to spot it i leaped over the wire fence i think my mate got a bit stuck LOL . From what i have read in books and threads on here it is quite a nasty one but on larger trees not as bad this is just what i have read i only will be taking what i can from books now and will let mother nature show me whats really going on by getting out there in the field .So many factors :thumbup1:

Very nice find.

 

A word of caution however, whilst the liklihood of causing significant damage to such a tree with an increment corer is low, it is still an offence to cause or permit damage to a protected tree. Also, landowners will tend to take a dim view of such 'research' without their consent - that include the highway authorities.

 

Don't mean to rain on your parade, or to insinuate that you did anything wrong; just needs saying for the public forum!
