How much is my double header chainsaw mill worth

I have grown too old and decrepit to use my old mill. Not used it for 15 years.

2off 2101xp units and a mill made of ally with rollers. Saws have not run for some time , i haven't the strength to give them a good pull. Chain brakes need new parts.

Would I be better of selling the 2101xp separately?

How much should i expect to get?

Personally reckon you’d be better splitting it up.
The saws are decent.
The mill has a design flaw.
Rollers will ride up on sawdust throwing the cut off.
Honest opinion.

Only if you dont clear them first. Easy to do with a brush or a hose.

Why do you think all manufacturers use square or rectangular?

It’s during the cut, sawdust will fly about and settle.
Even a couple of mm will cause problems.
And you can’t be waving a brush about whilst holding a mill.

Running 2100/2101s with bars make good money on eBay (£350+). Working brake is very rare, the brake parts haven't been made for at least a decade.

 

I think you'd get best return selling the mill and double ended bar setup as one lot (bar will fit all later 60cc+ husqvarna saws and many dolmars etc). And sell the saws separately on fleabay, preferably with bars and confirmed running.

 

Marketed correctly and with all the hassle of posting and dealing with internet idiots you might get near a grand... Equally plenty of people would bite your hand off for a couple of old non running 100cc saws for a few hundred quid

I agree with this and also with Rough Hewn's comment that the mill design is not the best. I have a Stihl double-ended mill but realistically it sees very little use. I would look at the price of a new Panther mill of equivalent size, with bar, and halve that as a starting point for the mill + bar.

 

I would advertise the saws separately, so three lots in total (saw, saw, mill+bar) but mention the other lots in each advert as somebody might want all of it.

 

I would be a bit less optimistic on the price. Parts availability for the saws is not great and their condition is a bit of an unknown quantity when sold with no warranty. They also do not come with a bar or chain, which makes a lot more difference to sale price than it should. I would be thinking around £200 each for the saws as plain, untested powerheads sold for spares/repair. If you can get them running I would expect that to go up to £250-275. If you have even basic old bars/chains for them that will push it up more.

Thanks for the advice.
I have now had both saws running and given them a clean and found a couple of bars.
I will put the mill on with an option on the 2 power units.
