woodwalker / airstream side by side height comparison...

So my old woodwalkers are nearing the end of their life and looking at whats new I'm not sure there is much better than my boots that have seen me through the last 6 years.

I do seem to spend a lot of time stood in brooks and streams at the bottom of Devon hedges and have always happily bragged how my feet stay dry no matter what. So as tempted as I am by something that looks a little more snazzy the key thing is whether the Meindl airstreams will go as deep as the woodwalkers.

Tough to find a pic or vid of them side by side so thought I'd see if anyone here has seen them together?

I'm getting to a similar stage, have I missed something and Woodwalkers no longer available?

i had a few pairs of woodwalkers and liked them, im on airstreams now and id say they have the edge on comfort  plus they are a cool red colour so when i stop at the shops on the way home for bread and milk people will know iam an "arborist" ! ;)

To answer the question - the woodwalker is a wee bit higher - but less than an inch....

My 2p worth:

You've done well to get 6 years of use if you lay hedges and loiter in ditches!

Have and like both, the Waldlaufer is my everyday boot and a little more flexible, i find the airstreams a tiny bit clumpy especially if there is lots of walking or dragging on hard surfaces, but they are more comfortable and supportive if i know i'll be spending a lot of the day on spikes.

I don't wear mine unless the ground conditions are bad or I am using a motor saw (any sort) so they have probably only had a years solid use despite having them 6 or 7 years. As I don't climb (well maybe a little) I take it the airstreams wouldn't suit me?

I am sure I read somewhere that the woodwalker build had changed for the worse but they remain reasonably cheap.

Plenty of people, including non climbers, wear them all the time. Just be aware the airstreams are a slightly stiffer boot.

Not noticed any changes, but mine are probably ~ 3 years old, so could be more recent

Thank you that answers my question exactly and has made my decision for me stiff is not what I need...

6 Years of use does involve swapping my boots as often as I swap my metaphorical hats and I am pretty fastidious when it comes to cleaning and waxing them.

Now the trick is finding a pair
