It was the 64" Bar that I was getting in the kit anyway, so thats handy. But 42"  on a 54/56? Thats odd, Im sure with my old Chillaskan I managed 42" with a 48" bar.

Whats the max cut width with a 64" bar on a 60" Panther then?

It’s GB bars. They measure the full length, not just the cutting end.
Check with Rob.d fir the cut of the 64”

Pretty much around 56" but I guess this is 4.5ft absolute max hence saying it may not be big enough to do a full 5' [you'll do 4' fine though].

Cheers Rob,

The log is somewhat Oval and I think its 5' one direction and 4' the other, so should be ok, as long as we can roll a 5t log. :D

Could I man-handle the next size Mill up on my own?

They are confusing GB bars in terms of drive link count but it is still the cutting end on the sprocket nose bars but it is the full length of the bar on the double ended bars!

I use a railway toe jack for this. I like it as it's rated to 20t and I can carry it around in a wheelbarrow.

The other option would be to mill down as far as you can, then trim the edges off with a mini-mill. The total waste won't be much. It depends a bit on what you are planning to do with the slabs as to whether that is acceptable.
