Is there a medium sized battery chainsaw yet?

I can't see any reason to get an MSA300 for a few cuts a day.

 

I think the best electric corded is the longitudinal motor model, seems same saw sold by either Husqvarna or Makita, 16" bar. It won't be as quick as it's only 2kW compared to 3kW from a 261 or 550.

Would that be the husky 420EL?  Seems good value, but I would rather spend more and get a quality machine.  There are loads of cheap corded chainsaw out there and no doubt they are all poor quality Chinese throwaway tools.  I would love to think this husky is better because it is a husky but is it?

Yeah its a quality if now  old design. Ive had the makita version of the same saw for well over a decade now and must of cross cut  100m3's  of wood up for firewood with it over the yrs.

 

Its had a few new sets of carbon brushes as its not a brushless motor, and a few other bits bur still going well.

 

Doubt there any newer corded  ones around that are the same quality. Stihl do a range but not for sale in the UK & are expensive for the bigger ones.

 

 

 

Only change in design I can see is new ones have thoose tooless  covers which i don't like.

That's the fella. Have no idea why it looks the same from Husqvarna to Makita, my guess Makita started making them long ago before they did many chainsaws themselves.

Thanks Stere that sounds ideal for me.  I don't care at all if it is dated, and as long as it is a half decent build quality it will last me ages.

Have ordered the Husqy 420EL.  Never thought I would go back to using a chainsaw with a cord, but for my use it makes a lot of sense!  Meanwhile does anyone want a good Stihl 023C which was a great saw but won't keep running?
