So I think they were probably in production until recently when the 251 superseded it. 

Yeah looks like the  251 came out in 2018/19? A few 250s stihl 🤣 kicking around in dealer shelves I’m sure mine is a 2006 250 not sure if that makes it an early one? Gets a few mixed reviews I thought (wrongly) it’s an entry level pro saw rather than the top of the range homeowner saw 🤷‍♂️ More than I need and hopefully better than the husky 235 I have been using!

On anything under 30 inches I wouldn’t use a saw with no brake  given the age of a saw with no brake parts are always going to be in short supply and the anti vib could be non existent

Chain brakes are essential. Don’t bother with that old dinosaw. You’ll be repairing it often. Most modern stihl saws will do what you need. Chat to your local dealer. Or ask on here for a second hande

I didn’t say it was easy....... I agree it’s like most thing spend the money or have a load of issues and end up spending more, there seems to be a lot of the “refurbished” saws being sold on eBay/mar

251 came out a lot earlier mine is a 2012
