I do like the ms462 but the 500 is only £35 more. I also like the xp tho some people hate Husqvarna, the 500 seems

to be the new kid on the block.

I would take the Husky 572, seems very well built, there is a saw builder on another site

that has 2000 hours on his, he modified it though, but that only put more power

through the same components, and it never gave trouble.

If your cutting a dozen trees a year, or have a sore back or arms or such injuries,

the Stihl MS500i is a little lighter, but as some pointed out, its not around long enough

to tell how it will fare with a bit of milage.

Theres other cheaper but tested saws out there too, like the Makita / Dolmars,

a fair bit cheaper, plenty reliable, and plenty of parts if you ever need them.

Why not go 562 from husky, lighter, it pulls a 24” easily so a 28 with skip chain or just cut from both sides.
Rips on a 18”
Once you use bigger saws and how fast they cut you tend to grab that one.
562 will do great for more of the time rather than just a big saw for odd cuts

Sorry, but my lazy creaky back always tells me to reach for the lightest possible saw, well actually my only saw, and I picked it because it was the lightest with the best power to weight ratio.

I have never had cause to regret my decision either.

Only cutting conifers mind you.

Hi my husky 357xp with a 20” bar is a screamer it’s like a laser. I bet it would pull a 24” bar at a push but it’s probably pushing it to much. I had an 038 magnum with a 25” bar it would pull but struggled when buried in beech. But that saw weighed a ton.
