Fastest drying & best burning Softwoods 1-5

I have been offered various Softwood species recently apart from the regular species and I am trying to determine which species come out on top for the Fastest to air dry and the species that generally burn best when air dried. 

 

Here are my findings for the   -  TOP 5:

 

DRYING

 

Larch

Douglas

Monterey Cypress

Leyland Cypress (Lleylandii)

Hemlock

 

 

BURNING

 

Douglas

Larch

Monterey

Hemlock

Leyland

No league table as such but I've always acquired loads of Lawsons.  Bloody horrible stuff to process, dries fast, burns very fast.  But I get loads of it and it's free.

I am surprised  you have Leylandii  at the bottom of the list .   Always found it to be good . Agree with Larch and  DF at the top .

I burn loads of larch and agree it drys fast, like stubby said Leylandii is a top burner.

It's only at 5 as it burns away faster than the others - that said the amount of kWh it produces is not that much lower than the others.
