Good job there John, hope it works out ok,

If I had any more space or cash I would have bought that lot myself but I reckon two loads will have to do for the moment

I'm starting to build a covered store for mine, just need to split into billets first and then stack to season it out side until September, then get it in the store

Happy logging

Thanks Dave, and a good recommendation for Chantler Timber. They delivered good quality timber. I'll be using them again. Also be chasing AP Bell for some timber ?

My philosophy to ... I`m doing some property speculation which just involves picking the phone up a few times a week and waiting for estate agents to sell it, so meanwhile I am accumulating a store of logs to start a sideline business from home rather than sit and twiddle my thumbs .. and I enjoy the hard work .. I`m even building a barn specifically for this.

I am hoping to build a store from felled timber. Green Oak. Watch this space. Cheers for the positive comments people.

only thing with oak is it takes along time to season, ash or sycamore or birch season a lot quicker. Im not knocking oak or anything, im just thinking i would like my money back quicker.

not really IME,cut it 4ft,split and stack it,dry by autumn, quicker than ash.leave it round and yeah it takes a long time

When you work for yourself and there's no work on what do you do? Sit at home and wait for the phone to ring? No, you get down the yard and graft. A bonus to this career is the small profit you will make by using your time well.

Bang on the money matey, stick to your guns. If you put in the hours and market a good product there's a good living to be had from firewood.

Best of luck.:thumbup1:
