Planer thicknesser shopping - advice needed!

I'll get the hang of it alright, can't be rocket science. I'm VAT registered so would hope to be home and hosed for around the 2k mark ex vat or private sale. When buying from Ireland the piece of mind a dealer gives is probably not  bad route to go.

Has anybody ever heard of people swapping out three phase motors for the single phase equivalent? I have a dealer in Ireland who is offering to do this on a dominion for me for 2k euro. Too good to be true?

Happens all the time and as long as the mounts are the same.Like to buy the genuine thing myself and not a fan of the domain stuff compared to wadkin and sedgwick. Just seems every thing on the domain and wilson seems bulky and oversized.May be just me but used enough of them to compare.

That was my gut feeling on the motors front as well. For some reason I'm drawn to the Wadkin baos, appears to tick all the boxes. Thanks for the advice.

that's precisely the thing i was thinking of when i said ebay could yield one...

 

how many knives are in the blocks of these machines???

 

mine is a 3 blade on a 4" block.

2 in mine but a lot have 3 and been looking around for ages for a new cutter block
