ID please

Tree ID please for a tree in my garden. The berries look like blueberries to me (I haven't tried eating them) but looking online I cannot see blueberry trees (shrubs) with similar prickly leaves.

Try Mahonia Aquifolium ?

Thanks for your reply.  The leaves and berries certainly look right but there were definitely no yellow flowers.

There were before the berries, which were small and green before they swelled and turned blue.

I'd say M.japonicum myself.

 

Typically Mahonia flowers in Feb and likely again in Nov; that's extended with climate change but two flowerings in the year is the norm.
